KCC softball has 23-game win streak

Amber Logemann tossed a no-hitter Saturday and the Kirkwood Eagles swept a doubleheader from Mineral Area College, 8-0 and 4-0, at the Kirkwood softball field.

The sixth-ranked Eagles (30-3) have won 23 straight games.

Kirkwood was scheduled to host a tournament this weekend, but an unfavorable weather forecast for Sunday and an unplayable field at Prairie High School led to a change in plans.

Logemann (12-3, 0.67 ERA) struck out nine batters in the first game, which ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. She walked one batter.

Logemann has struck out 174 batters in 83 1/3 innings to rank among the national leaders.

Kayla Tatge socked her 18th home run of the season in the opener. She leads all NJCAA Division II players in the nation in home runs.

Leah Duffe, Haylee Krack, Kelsie Campbell and Shelby Crist had two hits apiece in the 8-0 victory. Duffe drove in three runs and Krack drove in two runs.

Sam Belz (11-0, 0.73 ERA) pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts in the second game for Kirkwood. Kadarenna Sales, Duffe and Krack had two hits apiece.
