RoughRiders trimmed by Waterloo, 3-2

WATERLOO - Peter Krieger scored on a power play early in the third period Thursday as the Waterloo Black Hawks trimmed the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 3-2, in a USHL game before 3,248 fans at Young Arena.

Cedar Rapids (12-4-1) and Waterloo (13-5) traded goals in the first two periods.

Andrew Poturalski gave the RoughRiders a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Patrick Russell tied it for the Black Hawks.

Jack Rowe gave Cedar Rapids a 2-1 lead in the second stanza, but Tyler Sheehy tied it for Waterloo on a power play.

The Black Hawks went 2-for-3 on their power plays, while Cedar Rapids was 0-for-5. Chris Birdsall made 38 saves for the RoughRiders.

The same two teams meet Friday night at 7:05 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
