MASON CITY - They billed the contest between No.1 Kirkwood and No.2 NIACC as the "Game of the Century" in Mason City Saturday afternoon.

They may have been right.

NIACC defeated Kirkwood, 115-111, in overtime in a wild affair between two national powers from the ICCAC conference.

Danielle Woolfolk scored for Kirkwood with eight seconds left in the second half to tie the game, 95-95, and force overtime, but the Trojans outscored the Eagles 20-16 in the extra session.

Woolfolk led Kirkwood (10-2, 1-1) with 23 points. Ariel Sneed finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Mikayla Fallon and Cassidy Clark scored 12 points apiece and Kirsten Larson had 10. Hanna Haynes grabbed 10 rebounds.

Cortni Rush scored 28 points for NIACC (11-0, 2-0). Chelsey Jacox finished with 27 points and 10 assists for the winners. Sierra Ford-Washington scored 22.

The teams combined to shoot 98 free throws. NIACC went 36 of 51 at the foul line and Kirkwood was 29 for 47. Six players fouled out, including four for NIACC.

Kirkwood and NIACC meet again Feb. 5 at Kirkwood.
