Cedar Rapids Washington is ranked eighth in the final Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 5A girls basketball poll released Monday.

The Warriors (17-4) have a bye in the first round of the regional tournament that starts Tuesday. Washington will play either Dubuque Hempstead or Dubuque Senior in a regional semifinal on Saturday. A date against No.9 Southeast Polk (14-6) is possible in the regional final.

Despite having a losing record, Xavier (10-11) is 13th in the Class 4A rankings. The Saints also have a first-round bye and will play either Marion or DeWitt Central in a regional semifinal on Saturday at Xavier. A game against No.10 North Scott (15-6) is possible in the regional final.

Kennedy dropped out of the Class 5A rankings. The Cougars were ranked ninth last week.

Iowa City High (21-0) is ranked No.1 in Class 5A and Harlan (21-0) is No.1 in 4A.
