Caleb Miller wins Metro Spotlight Award

Xavier junior Caleb Miller is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Miller placed second at the Class 1A state bowling tournament at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines last Monday, barely missing in his bid to repeat as the state champion.

Miller rolled games of 279 and 211 for a 490 series, leaving him 14 pins behind the winner. His 279 game and 490 series were his top showings of the season.

Miller captured the state 1A title last year with a 492 series to help Xavier finish second in the 2013 team standings.

Here is our Question-&-Answer session with Caleb Miller:

MSR: What has been your favorite individual highlight in sports?

CALEB: I would say that I have two favorite accomplishments, one being winning state individually and when I had my 300 game.

MSR: What has been your favorite team highlight in sports?

CALEB: My favorite team accomplishment would be making it to state and finishing second last year.

MSR: What are your future goals in sports?

CALEB: My future goals are to hopefully bowl for a college and then take my career as far as I can after that.

MSR: Who has had the biggest influence on your sports career?

CALEB: My biggest influence on my bowling career would be my grandpa. He got me started and has supported me ever since.

CALEB: My favorite class in school is psychology. I like learning about how humans think.

MSR: What has been your favorite community service project?

CALEB: My favorite community service project was this year for school when I went to a church to help them out.
