Cedar Rapids Jefferson sophomore Spencer Van Scoyoc is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Van Scoyoc had an exceptional stretch for the J-Hawks in six games last week.

He went 14-for-23 for a .609 batting average in those six games. He had three doubles, three home runs, 11 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

Van Scoyoc is hitting .414 (46-for-111) this season with 5 homers and 34 RBIs. He also has 17 doubles and three triples.

Jefferson has compiled a 22-13 record heading into the final week of the regular season and the Class 4A playoffs.
