Wartburg tabbed for IIAC football title

Defending league champion Wartburg College, which reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship last year, is the unanimous favorite to capture the 2014 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) football title.

The Knights received all seven possible first-place votes (coaches are not allowed to rank their own teams) for a total of 56 points.

Coe College, which received one second-place vote and six third-place votes, and the University of Dubuque, recipients of four second-place votes and three fourth-place votes, are tied for second place in the poll with 43 points apiece.

Central College, which received Wartburg's first-place vote, sits in fourth with 37 points, just ahead of Simpson College (34 points) and Buena Vista University (33).
