Marion's Keel is Wamac medalist

WATERLOO - Marion High School junior Brandon Keel fired a 4-over-par 76 Monday to claim medalist honors at the Wamac Conference meet at Gates Park.

Keel beat Mitch Maiers of Waterloo Columbus by one shot to become the first Marion golfer to win medalist honors at the Wamac meet since the league expanded.

Matt Schnieders of Marion shot a 6-over-par 78 to help the Indians take third place in the 15-team field.

Waterloo Columbus won the meet with a score of 317. Solon was second at 332, followed by Marion at 335.
