Youngstown scored the last three goals of the game Friday night and tripped the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 5-3, in a USHL game before 2,715 fans at the Ice Arena.
The RoughRiders took a 3-2 lead in the third period on a goal by Adam Gaudette, but Youngstown tied the game on a short-handed goal by Ryan Lomberg and took a 4-3 edge with 2:19 left on a tally by Kiefer Sherwood.
Youngstown scored its final goal into an empty net with one second remaining.
Cedar Rapids began the game with a five-game winning streak. The RoughRiders fell to 26-9-0 for 52 points, good for a five-point lead over Muskegon for first place in the Eastern Conference. Youngstown has an 18-11-5 mark for 41 points in the Eastern Conference.
Cal Burke and Andrew Oglevie scored the first two goals for the RoughRiders. Cedar Rapids was out-shot, 34-19.
The same two teams meet Saturday night at the Ice Arena in a rematch.
