Coe men top Central 80-73 in OT

PELLA – The Coe College men’s basketball team opened the overtime period with a 6-0 run with key baskets by Christian Fahey and JT Vonderhaar and held on to beat Central College 80-73 Saturday in an Iowa Conference game at Kuyper Gym.

Vonderhaar finished with 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Kohawks (11-6, 5-1). Jacob Timm had 20 points and nine rebounds. Fahey finished with 10 points.

Colby Taylor led Central College (9-8, 2-4) with 22 points.

Fahey gave Coe a 60-59 lead on a layup with 56 seconds left in regulation. Timm made one free throw with 30 seconds left for a 61-59, but Central tied the game 61-61 with 13 seconds and forced overtime.

The Kohawks outscored the Dutch 19-12 in overtime. Vonderhaar and Timm scored seven points apiece in the extra session.
