Coe baseball splits with No.17 BV

Ben Jacobson and Tony Becker combined for a three-hit shutout Tuesday as Coe blanked 17th-ranked Buena Vista, 4-0, in the first game of an Iowa Conference doubleheader at Daniels Park.

Buena Vista won the second game, 8-6.

Jacobson (2-2) allowed three hits in 5 2/3 innings, with three strikeouts and two walks. Becker retired all four of the batters he faced in 1 1/3 innings to finish the shutout.

Cole Tomlinson went 2-for-2 and drove in two runs for the Kohawks in the victory. Craig Konrardy went 2-for-3.

Konrardy and AJ Reuter were both 3-for-5 in the second game. Reuter allowed only two runs in five innings on the mound, but the Kohawks could not hold onto a 6-2 lead.

The split left Coe at 11-7 overall and 4-6 in the league. Buena Vista is 14-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
