Mount Mercy baseball splits with AIB

DES MOINES - Cody Bell had a good day for the Mount Mercy baseball team Wednesday as the Mustangs split a Midwest Collegiate Conference twinbill at AIB.

AIB won the first game, 11-4. Mount Mercy took the nightcap, 9-7.

Bell, a Kennedy grad, went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the first game. He was the winning pitcher in the second game for his first victory of the year.

The split left Mount Mercy at 15-19 overall and 6-9 in the conference. AIB is 18-20 overall and 13-7 in the league.

Lance Daugherty hit a pinch-hit homer for the Mustangs in the first game.

Ben Larson was 3-for-3 and scored two runs for Mount Mercy in the second game. Devin Holmes was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jimmy Lizarraga and Austin Czerwiec drove in two runs for the Mustangs. Colton Jourdan scored twice.
