KCC baseball splits with Muscatine

MUSCATINE - Zach Patterson has struggled as a hitter for much of the season for the Kirkwood Eagles this year, but he had a good day at the ballpark Wednesday.

Patterson went 5-for-6 and hit a home run as Kirkwood split a twinbill at Muscatine.

The Eagles won a slugfest in the opener, 16-14. Muscatine scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and grabbed the nightcap, 5-4.

Patterson went 3-for-3 in the opener with his home run and scored three runs. Austin Saikal also went 3-for-3 with a homer and three runs.

Hayden Sloane was 2-for-3 in the opener with three RBIs. Sulliam Rios Reyes and Eric Willis also drove in three runs. Ozzie Adams, Randy Perez and Brandon Brittain had two hits. Brittain drove in two runs.

Perez was 3-for-4 in the second game for Kirkwood with two doubles. Patterson and Noah Dostal were 2-for-3. Rios Reyes hit a solo home run.

The split left Kirkwood at 23-14 for the campaign.
