Saints solve Hawks in soccer showdown

The Xavier Saints found the secret to scoring goals against the Prairie Hawks Tuesday.

They scored seven of them.

The Saints rolled by the Hawks, 7-1, in a showdown of Mississippi Valley Conference powers at Heco Field on the Xavier campus.

Prairie had surrendered only eight goals in 13 games this season, but Xavier nearly matched that total in a single outing.

Nolan Armstrong led the onslaught for the Saints with two goals. Mason Hoxie, Luke Duball, Josh Hoffmann, Will Hanigan and Luke Koechner also found the net for Xavier.

Connor Ramlo contributed two assists for Xavier. Hoffmann, Luke Koechner, Luke Duball, Nick Koechner and Spencer Duball also had assists for the winners.

Logan Rinderknecht tallied the only goal for Prairie.

Xavier, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, raised its records to 11-2 overall and 10-2 in the MVC. Prairie, ranked No. 6 in Class 3A, fell to 11-3 overall and 9-3 in the conference.
