Kohawks bump off No. 23 Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. - Jake Timm pumped in 21 points Friday night as the Coe men's basketball team knocked off No. 23 Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 75-70, at the Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh.

Timm gave the Kohawks a 67-66 lead with a 3-pointer with 2:11 left in the game. Oshkosh tied the score, 67-67, with a free throw with 1:51 remaining, but Trevor Haaland gave Coe the lead for good at 70-67 with a 3-point play with 1:32 to go.

Matt Vonderhaar made it 72-67 for the Kohawks with two free throws with 22 seconds remaining. Oshkosh pulled within 72-70 on a 3-pointer by Sean Dwyer with six seconds left, but the Kohawks held on.

Timm cashed two foul shots with three seconds left for a 74-70 edge to seal the victory. For good measure, Lincoln Vorba made a steal and hit one free throw with one second left for the final score.

Coe coach Bryan Martin collected his first victory over a ranked opponent during his four years with the Kohawks. Ironically, Oshkosh is led by former Coe coach Pat Juckem.

Haaland, a transfer from Wayne State, hit four 3-pointers and scored 15 points for Coe and had five assists. Vonderhaar finished with 11 points. Marshall Shedeck collected eight points and eight rebounds.

The Kohawks canned half of their 3-poniters, nailing 11 of 22.

Coe raised its record to 2-0. Oshkosh fell to 0-2.
