Saulnier, Kelley share Metro Spotlight

Nick Saulnier and Cameron Kelley of Cedar Rapids Washington are the co-winners of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Saulnier and Kelley led the Warriors to their 53rd straight district swimming title Saturday with superlative performances at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center.

Saulnier, a senior, captured the 200 individual medley (1:52.19) and the 100 backstroke (51.16) at the district meet. He also swam on two triumphant relay teams and has been seeded No. 1 in the 200 IM and 100 back for the state meet in Marshalltown this Saturday.

 

Kelley, a junior, claimed the 500 freestyle (4:33.85) and 200 freestyle (1:41.33) with sizzling times at the district meet. He also swam on twovictorious relays and has been seeded No. 1 for the state meet in the 500 and 200 free.

Washington has finished in second place at the last two state meets.
