Iowa Central won the first game, 4-2.

Funkhouser moved into the four-man rotation for the first time this season and gave the Eagles a big lift. He struck out three batters and walked three in the lopsided victory, which was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Tyler Border hit a solo home run for Kirkwood in the 14-0 victory. Lorenzo Elion ws 3-for-3 and drove in three runs. Chili Moseley was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Korry Howell, Toran Shahidi and General McArthur all had two hits. Howell and Colin Kreiter drove in two runs. Howell scored three runs  in the leadoff spot. Moseley, Cal Clark and McArthur scored twice.

Hunter Lee pitched a complete game for Kirkwood in the 4-2 setback in the opener. He allowed four runs on five hits in six innings, with nine strikeouts and three walks.

Bordner had two hits in the first game.

The split left Kirkwood at 24-11 overall and 6-4 in the conference. Iowa Central is 23-12 overall and 9-5 in the league.
