Tallett is double champ at state qualifier

Xavier High School senior Katie Tallett captured the 1,500 and 3,000-meter runs at the Class 3A state qualifying meet at Thomas Park in  Marion Thursday.

Tallett took the 1,500 in 5:00.51 and claimed the 3,000 in 10:44.69 to earn automatic spots in the state meet.

Theresa Lampe of Xavier won the 100 hurdles in a tight race in 15.37 seconds, claiming the title by one-hundredth of a second.

Braden Stovie led the Xavier boys with a second-place finish in the 400 hurdles (57.04). The Saints placed third in the 4x100 relay (44.65) and the 4x800 relay (8:16.91).

Xavier finished fifth in both the boys and girls team standings.

GIRLS TEAM STANDINGS

1. Dubuque Wahlert 160, 2. Solon 132, 3. Mount Vernon 119, 4. Marion 91, 5.  Xavier 76, 6. DeWitt Central 66, 7. West Delaware 54, 8. Maquoketa 29.

BOYS TEAM STANDINGS

1. Dubuque Wahlert 139, 2. Marion 137, 3. Mount Vernon 128, 4. DeWitt Central  87, 5. Xavier 84, 6. Solon 77, 7. West Delaware 60, 8. Maquoketa 27.
