Robinson leads KCC women by Triton

Leah Robinson came off the bench to score 18 points Saturday afternoon as the top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team strolled by Triton College, 96-59, in the second round of the Kirkwood Classic at Johnson  Hall.

Robinson, a 6-foot-1 freshman from Evanston, Ill., hit 8 of 11 shots and also had three rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists.

Olivia Usher contributed 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals for the Eagles. Awal Ajak finished with 10 points, eight  assists and five rebounds. Megan Axcell collected 11 points, four  rebounds and three assists.

Mariah Henry poured in 36 points for Triton.

Kirkwood was credited with 35 assists on 38 field goals and shot 54.3  percent from the floor. The Eagles raised their record to 5-2 by winning both of their games in the classic.

TRITON (59): Henry 14 5-9 36, Gusman 2 1-2 5, Harper 1 1-2 4, Nelson 3 2-2 8, Gaines 2 1-2 5, Rosario 0 0-0 0, Muhammah 0 0-0 0, Badillo 0  1-2 1. Totals 22 11-19 59.

KIRKWOOD (96): Wilson 2 2-2 8, Puok 2 1-2 6, Axcell 5 0-0 11, Ajak 4  0-0 10, Usher 6 0-0 12, Jenkins 2 4-4 8, Brown 0 0-0 0, Hurst 1 0-0 3,  Taylor 1 0-0 2, Robinson 8 2-3 18, Mullinnix 1 0-0 3, Mensen 0 0-0 0,  Coleman 2 0-0 6, Wooldridge 4 1-2 9. Totals 38 10-13 96.
