Mustangs booted in double OT

Amgad Hassan of William Penn scored in the 109th minute of  double-overtime Wednesday night to give the Statesmen a 2-1 victory  over Mount Mercy in a Heart of America men's soccer match at the  Plaster Athletic Complex.

Suleymane Diallo gave Mount Mercy a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute with  an unassisted goal, but Victor Hernandez countered for William Penn in  the 66th minute to knot the match at 1-1.

Nobody scored for another 33 minutes until Hassan delivered the  game-winner with just 59 seconds left in double-overtime.

The loss dropped Mount Mercy to 6-4-3 overall and 2-4-1 in the  conference. William Penn raised its records to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in  the league.
