KCC women cannot get out of Dodge

SEDALIA, Mo. - The Kirkwood women's basketball team has begun the  season with two straight losses to NJCAA Division I ballclubs.

The Eagles lost to Dodge City Community College, 66-57, in the second  round of the State Fair Classic Saturday and left the tournament  empty-handed.

Kirkwood fell to Butler Community College, 45-30, in their opener  Friday. Kirkwood is an NJCAA Division II school, with less scholarship  money than Division I outfits like Butler and Dodge City.

Ju Gaston led the Eagles with 11 points.

KIRKWOOD (57): Bradford 1 0-0 2, Jenkins 3 0-0 6, Gaston 5 0-0 11,  Lipsey 1 0-0 2, Kennedy 2 1-2 5, Myers 2 0-0 6, Hurst 1 4-4 6, Rath 1  0-0 2, Tomaszewski 1 0-0 2, Robinson 0 2-2 2, Mullinnix 1 0-0 2,  Mensen 1 0-0 3, Tull 2 4-5 8. Totals 21 11-13 57.

3-point goals - Kirkwood 4 (Myers 2, Gaston 1, Mensen 1).
