Morgan Lewis commits to Iowa softball

Morgan Lewis, a former all-state softball player at Cedar Rapids Prairie, has accepted an offer to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes next season.

“I accepted today, so it's now official,” she informed the Metro Sports Report in an email Tuesday.

Lewis, a fleet center fielder, helped the DMACC Bears finish third at the NJCAA Division II World Series last week. She hit .444 in the leadoff spot for DMACC this season with 30 RBIs and 62 runs.

Lewis was a freshman at DMACC this year and will have three years of eligibility at Iowa.

Avery Guy, a former all-state player at Cedar Rapids Jefferson, is also joining the Hawkeyes after starring for two years at DMACC. Guy played shortstop for the Bears, but she might switch to the outfield for the Hawkeyes.

Both Lewis and Guy will be playing this summer in the Iowa Women's Softball League.
