Daggett shines as Mustangs trim Penn

Kayla Daggett was an assist machine Friday night.

Daggett collected 52 assists as the Mount Mercy women's volleyball team defeated William Penn, 3-1, in a four-set thriller at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

The Mustangs prevailed 23-25, 26-24, 25-18, 28-26 with three of the sets decided by only two points.

Daggett, who ranks 11th in NAIA volleyball with 774 assists, averaged 13 assists per set as the Mustangs raised their records to 14-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference. William Penn fell to 8-12 overall and 3-8 in the league.

Maddie Bell had 19 kills, Abbi Tunis 13 and Mackenzie Murphy 12. Daggett served four aces. Gabi Delsing contributed 20 digs, Olivia Makinen 19 and Madelyn Orton 10. Tunis blocked four shots.
