LE GRAND -- Cedar Rapids Kennedy built an 8-0 lead and defeated East Marshall, 8-5, in a high school softball game Wednesday night in Le Grand.

The Cougars handed Class 3A No.5 East Marshall its first loss of the season.

Allie McQuiston and Lauren Kubovec had two RBIs for Kennedy (7-14). Taylor Sohn picked up the victory on the mound.

East Marshall (15-1) scored five unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including a three-run homer by Katie Roseland.
