Buhr joins MSR staff as baseball writer

S.D. Buhr, a lifelong baseball fan and expert about the Minnesota Twins organization, has joined the Metro Sports Report staff as a baseball writer.

Buhr will be a member of the MSR team that covers the Cedar Rapids Kernels this season.

Buhr, who lives in Cedar Rapids, has written about the Minnesota Twins and their minor league affiliates since 2010 for Knuckleballsblog.com. He is the co-founder of Knuckleballsblog.com, which is must reading for Twins fans.

Buhr graduated from Webster City High School in 1974 and worked as a sportswriter and photographer for his hometown newspaper, the Webster City Daily Freeman-Journal, for about two years.

"We are delighted to have someone with Buhr's background and expertise join our staff," said Metro Sports Report president Jim Ecker. "We're sure our readers will enjoy his insightful stories about the Kernels and minor league baseball."

Buhr will cover Kernels games for the MSR and also make other valuable contributions to the website, beginning with today's story about some of the top Minnesota Twins prospects who could play in Cedar Rapids this season.

Buhr learned about baseball from his father, who coached high school baseball in Albert Lea, Minn., and from watching Harmon Killebrew and Tony Oliva during regular trips to watch the Minnesota Twins play at old Metropolitan Stadium.

He is a graduate of Coe College.
