MAQUOKETA - Marion's bats went cold on a hot day in Maquoketa Wednesday.

The Marion Indians got swept by Maquoketa in a Wamac Conference doubleheader, 5-2 and 8-2, snapping their 11-game winning streak.

The Indians (13-10, 11-7) managed only two hits in the opener. Trev Biery and David Kuhn collected RBIs for Marion.

Maquoketa took a 4-0 lead after two innings of the nightcap. Marion pulled within 4-2 in the fifth inning, but Maquoketa tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Winning pitcher Josh Kirk had a bases-loaded triple in the big inning.

Kuhn and Logan Fuller had two hits for Marion in the nightcap.
