The Kirkwood women's basketball team vaulted into the No.2 spot in the NJCAA Division II national rankings Wednesday.

The Eagles (7-1) were not ranked in the preseason poll, but their victories over No.5 Owens, No.7 Illinois Central and No.8 Kishwaukee helped them jump all the way near the top.

Louisburg College climbed from No.14 to No.1 in the rankings.

NIACC, which competes in the same league as Kirkwood, is ranked third this week. Iowa Central is 17th.
