WATERLOO - Josh Allen upset Micah Kelsay at 195 pounds to seal Jefferson's 37-19 upset win over the No.8 Trojans Thursday night in a season-opening double dual wrestling meet at Waterloo East.

Jefferson also whipped Waterloo East, 72-3.

The J-Hawks won 9 of the 14 bouts against West and got pins from Brenden Baker at 106, Tavian Rashed at 145 and Dalton Kuehl at 220.

Jefferson led 28-19 when Allen took the mat against Kelsay, who is ranked No.9 at 220 pounds.

Allen beat Kelsay 15-9 to seal the win and Kuehl followed with a fall to end the meet.

In the only bout featuring a pair of ranked wrestlers, West's Chris Walters posted a major decision over Michael Moncivais, 15-7, at 132. Walters is ranked third and Moncivais seventh.

Jefferson recorded 11 pins in its rout of Waterloo East.

Kuehl and Baker had the fastest pins, both flattening their foes in 2 seconds. Allen stuck his opponent in 7 seconds.
