No.3 Kirkwood women fall to No.10 Tritons

FORT DODGE - The wounded Kirkwood women's basketball team dropped an 80-74 verdict at 10th-ranked Iowa Central Saturday in an ICCAC conference basketball game.

The loss dropped the third-ranked Eagles into a tie for second place in the league standings with Iowa Central with 7-2 records. NIACC stands all alone in first place with a 9-0 mark.

Hanna Haynes, a 6-foot-2 freshman, hurt her knee in practice Friday and did not play for Kirkwood. Zoe Kelso, a 5-foot-11 freshman, hurt her knee during the game and was unable to continue. Both players will be examined Monday to determine the extent of their injuries. Two other Kirkwood players have knee injuries, digging further into the team's depth.

Miliakere Koyamainavure, a 5-foot-8 guard from Fiji, scored 22 points for Iowa Central (18-3). Lydia Harvey added 17 points, Katie Dentlinger had 12 and Chayil Henderson 11.

Danielle Woolfolk led Kirkwood (18-4) with 15 points. Tyra Polite scored 14 points and Cassidy Clark had 12.

KIRKWOOD (74): Sneed 3 0-1 7, Woolfolk 7 1-4 15, Tuttle 0 1-2 1, Silva 2 0-2 5, Fallon 2 2-2 7, Polite 6 0-0 14, Larson 0 0-0 0, Kelso 3 2-3 8, Clark 4 3-4 12, Robinson 2 1-2 5. Totals 29 10-20 74.

IOWA CENTRAL (80): Henderson 4 3-4 11, Oja 4 1-4 10, Dentlinger 3 5-6 12, Koyamainavure 5 12-18 22, Binion 2 0-0 5, Diew 1 0-0 3, Harvey 4 6-9 17. Totals 23 27-41 80.
