RoughRiders clubbed by Green Bay, 6-3

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay Gamblers scored four straight goals in the second period Sunday afternoon and defeated the weary Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 6-3, before 3,507 fans in a USHL game at the Resch Center.

The RoughRiders played at Sioux City Friday night, hosted Lincoln Saturday night and had an early trip to Green Bay Sunday morning for three games in three cities in less than 48 hours.

Andrew Oglevie and Andrew Poturalski gave the RoughRiders a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Green Bay struck back with its four goals in the second period.

Carlos Fornaris pulled Cedar Rapids within 4-3 with 13:18 left in the game, but the Gamblers scored 38 seconds later to regain control.

Chris Birdsall was touched for five goals in 47 minutes, 20 seconds for the RoughRiders. Danny Tirone tended goal for the final 12:40 and allowed one goal.

The RoughRiders fell to 29-17-2 for 60 points, tied for second place in the Eastern Conference with Dubuque. Green Bay raised its mark to 24-19-6 for 54 points.
