Kernels place Vielma on DL

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announced Tuesday that infielder Engelb Vielma has been placed on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to July 7.

Vielma goes on the DL with a concussion suffered in a collision with outfielder J.D. Williams during Sunday's 3-2 loss to Beloit. Vielma left the game after the collision, but Williams remained in the game.

In 70 games for the Kernels, Vielma is batting .253 with 11 doubles, three triples and 21 RBIs. This is his second stint on the DL this season.

The Twins did not announce a corresponding move. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one shy of the Midwest League maximum of 25, with seven players currently on the DL.
