FARMINGTON - Cedar Valley Christian Coach Ed Betsworth knew what he was talking about when he said the Huskies had a good chance to win their first football game in school history this year.
It happened Friday night.
Cedar Valley defeated Harmony, 30-20, in an 8-Player game in Farmington.
Cedar Valley began its football program four years ago and suffered a series of lumps in all of its games, but Betsworth liked the way his guys performed in a 7-on-7 passing league this summer against much bigger schools like Cedar Rapids Washington, Prairie and Solon.
The Huskies have 20 players on the roster this year, giving them much more depth than in previous campaigns. They are also bigger, stronger and faster and have an experienced quarterback in Kenan Ulmer.
Now the Huskies have a victory.
The Harmony Rockets shared a football program with Central Lee in recent years, but they broke away and formed their own team this season.
