The Jefferson J-Hawks collected their first victory of the season last Friday when they whipped Davenport North, 42-7, at Brady Street Stadium.

Now the J-Hawks are returning to Davenport for more.

Jefferson will face Davenport West at Brady Street Stadium Thursday at 7 p.m., trying to square its record at 2-2.

Based on comparative scores, the J-Hawks have an excellent chance.

Davenport West has an 0-3 record this year, with one of the setbacks a 24-22 setback to Davenport North. That's the same Davenport North squad that Jefferson belted by 35 points.

Jefferson has gone 1-8 the past two years under Coach Brian Webb, so a victory over Davenport North would be a big step in the right direction as he rebuilds the program.

Jefferson quarterback Jesse Furrow, a transfer from Indiana, has given the J-Hawks a big boost this season with his passing and leadership. Furrow has competed 54.3 percent of his passes for 588 yards and four touchdowns. He's also rushed for two TDs.

Tavian Rashed has carried the ball 41 times for 195 yards and four touchdowns for Jefferson. Manny Olutunde has six catches for 190 yards, Bryce Lund has five grabs for 146 yards and Mason Furnish has five receptions for 107 yards.

Caleb Kesterson is 10-for-10 on PATs.

Jefferson is averaging 344.3 yards on offense and allowing 278.3 yards on defense.

Davenport West has struggled throwing the ball this year. Its quarterbacks have thrown for only 205 yards in three games, with five interceptions and no TDs.

The Falcons have displayed a decent running attack with 587 yards ands ix touchdowns. Tirael Malone has carried the ball 53 times for 309 yards and four TDs.
