The Xavier Saints fell from No. 1 to No. 5 in the Class 3A football rankings by the Des Moines Register Sunday.

The Saints lost to Western Dubuque, 7-6, Friday night at home.

Pella has moved into the No. 1 spot in the 3A poll. Western Dubuque raised its overall record to 4-2, the same as Xavier, but the Bobcats are not ranked.

The Washington Warriors remained in their perch at the top of the Class 4A rankings with their 40-2 conquest of Ottumwa. Linn-Mar is ranked ninth after beating Kennedy, 29-14.
