PDF

Cedar Rapids Washington senior Reid Snitker is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Snitker is the quarterback for the top-ranked Washington football team, but he does much more than that for the undefeated Warriors. He's also an excellent defensive back and kick-returner.

Snitker had a big game in Washington's 63-19 victory at Burlington Friday night. He completed 7 of 8 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns, carried the ball eight times for 138 yards and three TDs, made five tackles, had two kickoff returns for 84 yards and fielded a punt.

All told, Snitker accounted for 337 yards and five touchdowns against Burlington.

Snitker has completed 45 of 89 passes this season (50.6 percent) for 685 yards, 11 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He's carried the ball 43 times for 329 yards (7.7 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns.

Snitker ranks fourth on the team with 31 tackles. He has three interceptions, including one interception for a touchdown. He also has eight punt returns for 79 yards (9.9 average), four kickoff returns for 120 yards (30.0 average) and one fumble recovery.

Snitker has been a Do-It-All player for Washington, which hosts Clinton in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Kingston Stadium.
