RoughRiders knock off Chicago, 5-3

BENSENVILLE, Ill. - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders rallied from a 2-0 deficit Friday night and defeated Chicago, 5-3, in a USHL game before 809 fans at the Chicago Edge Arena.

Andrew Oglevie, Ross Colton and Adam Gaudette scored goals in the second period to give the RoughRiders a 3-2 advantage. Chicago tied the game, 3-3, in the third period, but the RoughRiders finished strong.

Jiri Frank scored on a power play with 4:50 left in the contest to break the tie and give Cedar Rapids a 4-3 lead. Clark Kuster and RoughRiders goalie Ben Blacker picked up assists on the tally.

Gaudette scored into an empty net with one second left in the contest to finish the scoring.

The RoughRiders raised their record to 8-1 for 16 points. They play at Green Bay Saturday night.

 

Chicago out-shot the RoughRiders, 37-33, but Blacker made 34 saves.
