RoughRiders top Lincoln in shootout

LINCOLN, Neb. - Andrew Oglevie gave the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders a 4-3 victory over Lincoln Wednesday night in a shootout before 2,675 fans at the Lincoln Ice Arena.

The USHL game was tied, 3-3, after the regulation three periods and neither team scored in overtime. Both teams were unable to connect on their first two attempts in the shootout, but Oglevie delivered as the No.3 man for the RoughRiders and Cedar Rapids goalie Ryan Larkin prevented Grant Jozefek from scoring for Lincoln to secure the victory.

Lincoln took a quick 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, but the RoughRiders responded with three straight goals in the first period on shots by Dylan McLaughlin, Jiri Fronk and Tyler Gernhofer for a 3-1 advantage.

Lincoln scored once in the second period and once again in the third period to tie the game.

Larkin made 20 saves for Cedar Rapids. The goal by Fronk was his 16th of the season, which leads the USHL.

The RoughRiders are 10-0 in road games and 16-2-0 overall for 32 points. They lead the Eastern Conference by seven points over Muskegon.Lincoln fell to 5-7-3 for the campaign for 13 points in the Western Conference.

The RoughRiders play at Waterloo Thursday night and host Waterloo Saturday night.
