Zach Daniels had 14 points and Brendon Manning had 13 for the Kennedy boys basketball team in a 55-49 loss to Des Moines Hoover on Saturday at Kennedy.

The Cougars (1-1) trailed 14-10 after the first quarter, but Hoover went on a 16-6 run in the second quarter to pull away.

Chris King had 21 points with four 3-point goals to lead Hoover.
