Bohannon wins Metro Spotlight Award

Linn-Mar junior Jordan Bohannon is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Bohannon, a 6-foot-1 junior, is one of the top basketball players in the state for the Lions. He leads the Metro in scoring at 16.2 points and also leads the Metro with 35 3-pointers.

Bohannon has college offers from the University of Northern Iowa and Drake. He will become the fourth brother in his family to play Division I college basketball, following Jason (Wisconsin), Zach (Air Force/Wisconsin) and Matt (Northern Iowa).

Bohannon helped Linn-Mar got off to an 8-1 start this season and climb to No. 8 in the Associated Press Class 4A rankings, but the Lions have lost their last two games to top-ranked Iowa City West (61-56) and No. 5 Ankeny Centennial (56-55) in tight affairs.

Bohannon has cracked 20 points in four games this season with 23 against Cedar Falls, 22 against Iowa City West, 20 against Bettendorf and 20 against Southeast Polk. He made six 3-pointers against Cedar Falls and had five apiece against Southeast Polk, Kennedy and Iowa City West.

Bohannon has played for the Linn-Mar varsity since his freshman year in school and has scored 766 points in 57 games for a 13.4 career average. He has made 127 3-pointers.
