Marion girls pop into rankings at 15th

The Marion High School girls basketball team has climbed into the Class 4A rankings for the first time this season at 15th, the IGHSAU announced Thursday.

The Indians have compiled an 11-4 record so far and are contending for a Wamac Conference title.

The Xavier Saints (10-5) dropped one spot in the Class 4A rankings to No. 10.

The Linn-Mar Lions had a tough week and dropped out of the Class 5A rankings. Kennedy (10-5) remained 10th in the 5A poll.

CLASS 5A

1. Waukee (12-1), 2. Dowling (11-2), 3. Iowa City West (13-0), 4. Southeast Polk (11-2), 5. West Des Moines Valley (12-1), 6. Ankeny Centennial (9-4), 7. Cedar Falls (12-2), 8. Johnston (8-5), 9. Iowa City High (10-4), 10. Kennedy (10-5).

CLASS 4A

1. Harlan (13-0), 2. Western Dubuque (14-0), 3. Carlisle (13-1), 4. Ballard (12-1), 5. Perry (12-2), 6. Waverly-Shell Rock (15-0), 7. Davenport North (13-0), 8. Sioux City Heelan (10-2) 9. North Scott (12-2), 10. Indianola (11-3), 11. Xavier (10-5), 12. Pella (11-2) 13. Dallas Center-Grimes (10-4), 14. Lewis Central (12-3), 15. Marion (11-4).
