Youngstown downs RoughRiders 3-2

Youngstown beat the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 3-2 Saturday to sweep a weekend series before 4,183 fans at Ice Arena.

The Phantoms also won 5-3 Friday in Cedar Rapids.

Youngstown took a 1-0 lead in the first period Saturday on a goal by Maxim Letunov off an assist by Kyle Connor at 7:32. Andrew Oglevie tied the score with a goal at 7:46 with assists by Charlie Curti and Derek Daschke.

Youngstown added two goals in the second period by Matt Miller and Matt Alvaro to take a 3-1 lead.

Jiri Fronk scored for Cedar Rapids at the 5:06 mark of the third period, assisted by Dylan McLaughlin and Erik Foley.

Cedar Rapids out-shot Youngstown 34-32, including 19-7 in the third quarter.

The RoughRiders led the Eastern Conference at 36-26-10 for 52 points, but their lead over Muskegon shrank to three points. Youngstown is 35-19-11 for 43 points and fourth place.
