Cedar Rapids Jefferson senior Rylea Bennett is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Bennett is one of the top bowlers in the state for the J-Hawks. She carries a 198.4 game average and a 396.9 series average, giving her a slight lead in the Metro area over Rylee Blood of Prairie.

Bennett has been on a roll lately. She bowled a 234 game and 437 series Friday when Jefferson defeated Dubuque Wahlert at May City Bowl, and she had a 254 game and 438 series in a victory over Dubuque Senior Jan. 16 at Cherry Lanes in Dubuque. She also had a 424 series against Kenneday Jan. 6.

Bennett's 254 game and 438 series against Dubuque Senior are her season-highs.

Bennett has helped Jefferson compile a 4-4 record this season. She has significantly improved this season, compared to her averages of 183.8 and 367.7 last year.
