Marion junior Bre Smith is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Smith is one of the top bowlers in the state for the Marion Indians and she enjoyed a fantastic day on Friday at Cobra Lanes in Farley in a Wamac Conference meet against Western Dubuque.

She rolled games of 258 and 230 for a 488 series, which is the sixth-best series in the state this season. Her 258 matched the 13th-best single game of the season.

Smith tied for fourth at the Class 1A state meet last year with a 433 series. She averaged 198.9 per game game and 397.5 per series last year as a sophomore, and is averaging 189.9 and 379.7 this season.

Marion is competing in Class 2A this season. Their state meet qualifier is scheduled for Tuesday in Waverly.
