J-Hawks fade late against Hempstead boys

Adam Van Oort scored 12 points and Tyler Konigsmark added 11 as the Jefferson boys basketball team fell to Dubuque Hempstead, 51-43, Tuesday at Jefferson.

The J-Hawks (1-19) tied the score at 39-39 with four minutes to play but could not pull it out. The Mustangs shot 17-of-23 from the free throw line in the game.

Robert Duax scored 22 points for Dubuque Hempstead (14-6).
