No.13 Indians roar by West Delaware

The 13th-ranked Marion girls basketball team poured in eleven 3-pointers Saturday night and defeated West Delaware, 63-48, in the Class 4A regional semifinals at the Marion High School gym.

The Indians (17-5) will face fifth-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock in the regional finals Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Vinton for a spot in the state tournament.

Mia Laube hit three 3-pointers and led Marion with 21 points. Chloe Rice hit two triples and scored 16 points. Kaitlyn Smith popped in five 3-pointers and contributed 15 points. Laube, Rice and Smith are all freshmen.

Kristen Wegmann scored 17 points for West Delaware (16-7).

WEST DELAWARE (48): Lyness 1 0-0 3, Schrader 0 0-0 0, Moorman 0 0-0 0, Wegmann 5 4-5 17, Gaffney 0 2-2 2, Thole 3 5-6 11, Morrison 0 0-0 0, Boles 1 0-0 2, Palmer 5 2-2 13. Totals 15 12-14 48.
