Bryton Heisler of Kennedy is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Heisler, a 6-foot-2 senior, was a key member of the Kennedy basketball team that reached the quarterfinals of the Class 4A state tournament and finished with an 18-6 record. He led the Cougars with 22 points in their 58-51 loss to Pleasant Valley at the state meet.

Heisler averaged 11.7 points and 3.8 rebounds this season. He shot 51.6 overall from the field and 69.2 percent on free throws. He also had 28 steals and made 23 3-pointers.

Heisler was named second team All-Metro this season and received honorable mention on the Mississippi Valley Conference all-star teams.
