Eagles split with Iowa Central

FORT DODGE - The Kirkwood Eagles trimmed Iowa Central, 9-8, in the second game of their doubleheader Sunday to salvage the final game of the four-game weekend series.

Iowa Central won the first game, 14-4, in five innings.

The split left Kirkwood at 14-11 overall and 4-4 in the conference. Iowa Central is 15-10 and 6-2.

Sulliam Rios Reyes went 3-for-4 for the Eagles in the 9-8 victory. Randy Perez was 2-for-5 and drove in three runs. Adam Barbarich and Ozzie Adams also had two hits. Rios Reyes and Kolton Smith scored two runs.

Perez did not allow any runs in 2 1/3 innings as a relief pitcher and picked up a save after Kirkwood's first two pitchers had been charged with eight runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Brandon Brittain drove in two runs for Kirkwood in the first game.
