KCC softball splits with Indian Hills

The Kirkwood softball team traded one-run victories with Indian Hills Sunday in a non-conference doubleheader at the Kirkwood field.

Indian Hills won the first game, 6-5, snapping Kirkwood's 15-game winning streak. The Eagles took the nightcap, 12-11.

The split left the 11th-ranked Eagles with a 20-6 record. Indian Hills left town with a 13-8 mark.

Kirkwood hit four home runs in the doubleheader, giving the Eagles 57 homers in 26 games.

Brooke Prior went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in the second game for Kirkwood. She is hitting .444 with nine home runs and 30 RBIs. Lexie Biehl went 3-for-5 with a home run in the second game. She is hitting .529 with 11 homers and 39 RBIs.

Chasney Jenkins went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs in the victory. Mallory Neubauer was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Nicky Simpson (7-3) was the winning pitcher.

Tara Walls was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Eagles in the opener. Jasmine Ragusi belted a home run and drove in three runs. Prior was 3-for-4. Allie Mengler (8-3) was charged with the loss.
