Cedar Rapids Kennedy junior Dalles Jacobus is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Jacobus was a double-winner at the Hollingsworth Relays in Iowa City Saturday when he captured the shot put (51 feet) and the discus (154-11) to help Kennedy finish second in the team standings.

Jacobus is a four-sport varsity athlete at Kennedy in football, wrestling, track and baseball. He placed eighth in the discus at the state track meet last year as a sophomore.

He's also played in the state baseball tournament, qualified for the state wrestling tournament and participated in the football playoffs.

Jacobus is the third member of his family to play sports for Kennedy. Devon Jacobus, now a junior on the Grand View baseball team, helped the Cougars win the Class 4A state title in 2010.

Derek Jacobus, now a freshman on the Northern Iowa track team, won the state long jump title in 2013 and was a four-sport athlete at Kennedy.
