Coker sparks Kennedy to track title

DUBUQUE - Jackson Coker uncorked a throw of 170 feet, 11 inches in theĀ discus Thursday to help the Kennedy Cougars claim top honors at the Harley Sweet Invitational in Dubuque.

Coker's toss was the second-longest in the state this year.

Kennedy won the championship with 129 points. Washington placed third, Jefferson was fifth and Prairie finished sixth in the 11-team field.

Willie Rhoads won the high jump for the Cougars at 6 feet, 5 inches.

The Washington Warriors got victories from Andrew Dostal in the 400 (51.93), Tavion Stewart in the 110 hurdles (15.52), Isaiah Nimmers in the 400 hurdles (56.46) and the 4x100 relay with Reid Snitker, Landen Akers, Mason Taylor and Alex Herzog.

Jefferson claimed victories with Merje' Bokoyo in the 200 (23.15), Jimmy Itangishaka in the long jump (21-11 1/2) and the distance medley with Jacob Beaton, Itangishaka, Dan Larson and Jason Chung.

Prairie won three events with Trevor Northrup in the 100 (11.18), Matt Lorenz in the 800 (1:58.61) and Tysen VanDraska in the 1600 (4:31.64).
